Skeppshult

Skeppshult Gjuteri has been making cast iron cookware in the small village of Skeppshult, Sweden since 1906. More than a century later, it is Sweden's only remaining cast iron manufacturer and still family-owned. The foundry works with the same raw materials and the same essential method it always has: molten pig iron poured into sand moulds, each piece cast individually.

Materials and Craft

Skeppshult cookware is made from raw pig iron, free from non-stick coatings, synthetic liners, and chemical treatments of any kind. The surface develops a natural non-stick patina with use and seasoning, improving over time rather than degrading. Each piece is seasoned at the foundry with Swedish rapeseed oil before it leaves, making it immediately usable and suitable for plant-based kitchens.

Handle options include walnut, beechwood, and cast iron, each sourced and crafted to the same standard of durability as the pan. Cast iron retains and distributes heat evenly, moves from stovetop to oven without limitation, and works on all cooking surfaces including induction.

Why ASH Carries Them

Skeppshult represents what ASH was built around: honest materials, transparent production, and things made to last a lifetime. Cast iron without PTFE, PFAS, or ceramic coatings is increasingly rare. Skeppshult has never needed them. The cookware is heavy, it requires a little care, and it gets better with age. It is the opposite of disposable.

Product Range at ASH

ASH carries Skeppshult skillets in a range of sizes from 18 cm (7 inches) to 30 cm (11.8 inches), suited to everything from single-serving eggs to family-sized proteins. The collection spans round and oval pans with walnut and beechwood handle options. A selection of lids is also available. Each piece is designed to work independently or as part of a longer-term kitchen collection built around cast iron.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0698/7114/0942/collections/615854368_1494544359345337_4433402695651317589_n.webp?v=1780072731
