Product Care

Wood Furniture

Dust with a soft, dry cloth and avoid direct sunlight or heat sources, which can dry out and discolour natural wood finishes over time. Wipe spills promptly with a damp, not wet, cloth.

Solid wood will move slightly with the seasons, expanding in humid months and contracting in dry ones. This is normal and is allowed for in the way a piece is built.

Upholstery

Vacuum regularly using a soft brush attachment, and treat spills immediately by blotting, never rubbing, with a clean, dry cloth. Check manufacturer care tags for specific cleaning-code guidance before using any cleaning solution.

Linen wrinkles and softens with use. It will not look pressed and is not meant to.

Metal & Stone

Clean metal finishes with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can strip protective coatings. Natural stone surfaces should be sealed as recommended and wiped clean with a soft cloth to avoid etching.

Unlacquered brass darkens where it is handled and stays brighter where it is not. This is expected and cannot be reversed with cleaning.

Marble, travertine and onyx are porous. Lemon, wine and oil will leave a mark, and sealing slows this rather than preventing it.

Outdoor Furniture

Teak greys as it weathers. You can leave it alone or apply a teak oil to bring the colour back, depending on how you want it to look.

All weather resin wicker can be washed down with mild soap and water. Powder coated aluminium and blackened steel need little beyond an occasional wipe.

Solution dyed outdoor fabrics can be spot cleaned with mild soap and water. The colour runs through the fibre, so it will not lift with cleaning.

Cookware

Cast iron should be kept seasoned and should not go in a dishwasher. Wash by hand, dry thoroughly, and wipe with a thin layer of oil before storing.

Carbon steel knives darken with use. This is a patina rather than damage, and it will not affect the blade.

Glassware

Mouth blown glass is thinner than machine made glass and should be washed by hand where possible. Where a piece is dishwasher safe the manufacturer will say so.
